Flushing Notice – June 2, 2025
The Gray Water District will be conducting system wide flushing of the water mains to clean them of rust and sediment that settles during periods of low flows. This is done in coordination with our corrosion control program to provide the necessary movement of water for protection against contamination and to enhance the quality of the water within the system.
Flushing will begin on or about June 2, 2025, and will continue until finished, which we expect to take about three weeks. During this process, you may experience some discoloration in the water and possibly some sediment gathering in faucet strainers. If this occurs, remove the strainers and flush some water through until it comes clear, clean the strainers, and reinstall them. If you experience continuing problems, please call the District at 207-657-3500, and we will assist you.
Gray Water District serves 1100 connections to numerous local businesses and residences. Our main source is the Libby Brook aquifer located at 80 Shaker Road. Our secondary source is located at 299 Yarmouth Road.
